Free Public Lecture by Tibetan Buddhist Teacher
Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, an esteemed Tibetan lama will talk about how we can survive in these changing times
A free public lecture entitled ‘Adapting to World Change through Meditation & Awareness’ will take place on Tuesday, 26 May at 8pm in the Cairnes Theatre, NUI Galway. The lecture will be given by visiting Tibetan Buddhist teacher Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, an eminent scholar of Tibetan Buddhism. Since 1990 he has been traveling and teaching Buddhism and meditation at more than 50 universities, Institutes and Buddhist Centres in Europe, US, Canada, Australia and Asia and is a regular visitor to Galway.
A short, introductory Powerpoint presentation will be given by Dr John Stanley, editor of the new book A Buddhist Response to the Climate Emergency. Dr Stanley is Director of the Ecological Buddhism project, which was established as an educational resource for the international Buddhist community to address issues surrounding global warming. He is also a former research group leader at the UK Health Protection Agency and member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
The evening will be hosted by the School of Political Science and Sociology at NUI Galway, which has a research cluster centering on the sociology and politics of the environment.
