Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2: Tuesday 7th April 7.30 pm
Israel's new foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman wants to ethnically cleanse Palestinians in Israel. Israel's new prime minister, Benjamin Nethnayahu is opposed to any Palestinian state. We discuss the possible frightening effects of Israel's new far-right government
Israel’s new far-right government of Likud, Yisrael Beitenyu, Labor and Shas is said to be a ‘threat to peace’. Yet what does ‘far-right’ mean in a country like Israel where the previous ‘centre-right’ government oversaw apartheid-like legislation, expansion of illegal settlements and the slaughter of thousands in Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank? Kevin Squires examines Israel’s incoming government and asks what it means for Palestinians in the Occupied Territories and those in Israel now facing ethnic cleansing. Also what does this mean for Palestinian solidarity here in Ireland?
This evening is part of a series of informal discussions hosted by the Dublin branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. They are open to all interested in Palestine, not simply IPSC members. The aim is to give people the chance to learn more about Palestine and share their thoughts with others in a relaxed and informal environment.
