Community Planning Event to Progress Innovative Dundrum Community Park & Gardens Proposal for site of Old Dundrum Shopping Centre
The innovative Dundrum Community Park & Gardens proposal is a response to the excessive construction and poor planning decisions that have been allowed to overwhelm the community of Dundrum and its environs in recent years.
The proposal directly challenges received ideas about what "development" really means and posits a viable, sustainable and genuine alternative form of development for the community as a whole.
The proposal is being advanced via a fully-participative and creative Public Workshop event to take place on Tuesday January 27th at Taney Parish Centre (Minor Hall), Dundrum, at 8pm.
Representatives from Lenridge Properties Ltd., the current owner of the Old Dundrum Shopping Centre, and the Parks Department of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council have been invited to attend, as well as public representatives and speakers experienced in the development of public amenities.
The event will allow local people to create their own vision for the proposed Park and Gardens, and has been organised by local sustainable development campaigner Brian Guckian, who has campaigned on national sustainable transport issues.
