Tuesday 9th Dec - Dublin & Cork
Community Childcare provides high quality, affordable childcare, mainly in economically disadvantaged areas. However, with the change in the governments funding system, some projects are facing closure, working parents fees are increasing, and workers pay and conditions remain minimal.
Workers, parents and providers will address meetings in Dublin and Cork to explain the impact this new "subvention" funding. In terms of public expenditure on early childhood services in OECD countries, Ireland comes in second last, at barley over 0.2%. (UK 0.6%, France 1.2%, Denmark 1.6%).
To highling these issues, protese have been planned for Tuesday 9th December:
Dublin
1pm Meeting in SIPTU, Liberty Hall, Eden Quay, Dublin 1. (speakers include workers, providers and parents)
2pm March to the OMC, Department of Health & Children, Poolbeg St. Dublin 2
Cork
11am Meeting in Metropole Hotel, MacCurtain St. (speakers include workers, providers and parents)
12pm March to City Hall
