Sahar Francis will speak about the situation of Palestinians interned by the Israeli authorities.
Sahar Francis is the director of Addameer (Arabic for 'conscience'), a human rights organisation based in the Occupied Palestinian Territories which campaigns for the rights of Palestinian prisoners. Sahar has extensive experience of working directly in support of the victims of human rights abuses in the West Bank.
Addameer are currently launching a major campaign on the Israeli policy of administrative detention, internment without charge or trial. Over 750 Palestinians, including children, are currently being held by the Israeli authorities in internment, some since 2002.
Since the beginning of this Intifada in September 2000, over 2500 children have been arrested. Currently there are at least 340 Palestinian children being held in Israeli Prisons.
