Calling all principals, teachers and parents!
Has your school said “No thanks” to commercial schemes such as supermarket vouchers and branded materials?
The INTO and the Campaign for Commercial-Free Education would like to recognise and promote schools who have adopted a commercialism policy in line with INTO guidelines (see www.into.ie).
Representatives of the schools will be invited to attend a ceremony in the Teachers’ Club on Friday 26th September @ 8pm and given a certificate of achievement for display in their schools.
If your school has taken a stance on commercial schemes and wishes to be
considered for these awards, contact the CCFE at chairperson [at] commercialfreeeducation [dot] com.
All welcome.

Jump To Comment: 1This is a great initiative, and a noble endeavor, from CCFE (and I say this as both a member of the group, but also as secondary school teacher).
I sincerely hope that this initiative earns the kudos that something like the Green Flag (for clean, environmentally-conscious schools) has. The time has long since passed for us (as educators, students, concerned citizens) to rid our schools of commercial influences.
Sorry I won't be able to make the event (I'll be climbing Croagh Patrick with my Leaving Certs.) but I wish you all the best, and may our successes continue.
Mark.
