On October 14th, 2007, I announced the availablity of downloadable leaflets from Animal Rights: The Abolitionist Approach: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/84659

This is a new approach to animal rights in the sense that it takes rights seriously. Most animal advocacy, certainly since the 1970s, has been inspired by the new welfarist philosophy of Peter Singer if inspired by any philosophical thought. Since the 1990s, however, philosopher and law professor Gary Francione has developed his abolitionist approach to animal rights. This approach is built on human rights principles and extends rights-based thought over the species barrier to include sentient nonhuman beings.
