The concluding talk / debate, of this weekend's 20th Desmond Greaves Summer School will take place at 2.30 pm at the Ireland Institute (Pearse Centre) 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.
Vetran campaigner Anthony Coughlan will deliver a paper on the civil rights movement and contemporary Ireland. Coughlan is a longstanding republican and civil rights activist. One of his higher profile actions was a successful Supreme Court challenge, which along with the McKenna judgement, forced the state, through RTE, to provide balanced broadcasting time to both sides during referenda to amend the Constitution. The state deployed nine barristers in the Supreme Court to defend their position and failed.
Also speaking on the platform is Kevin McCorry, solicitor and former North of Ireland Civil Rights Association organiser .
