Thursday Night Talks offer you an informal, social space to share your experiences and knowledge of Latin America with LASC members, volunteers and the general public
An informal discussion with Astrid V. Perez Piñán.
Thirty years after the massacre of two indpendentists students by police forces in the mountains of 'Cerro Maravilla' it is timely to revisit the not so well known political situation of Puerto Rico. Commonly refered to as a US territory or commonwealth this Caribbean Island presents very particular challenges of a modern colony. But why is Puerto Rico not independent yet? How come various referendums still result on keeping the status quo? Come and participate in an informal discussion led by Astrid V. Pérez Piñán, native from Puerto Rico.
Where: The Irish Aid Volunteering & Information Centre, 27-31 Upper O'Connel Street, Dublin 1
When: Thursday, July 31st, 7:00pm sharp
