Recording the field names and history of all the fields in Co. Meath
Launch of the survey: Tuesday, 13th May in the Ardboyne Hotel commencing at 8pm
There are approximately 100,000 fields spread across 44 parishes and 1,600 townlands in the county. A survey of these, to include names, lore, legends, features and any known historical connections is to be undertaken over the next two years. To this end the survey will be launched on Tuesday, 13th May in the Ardboyne Hotel commencing at 8pm. Representatives of the joint sponsors of the survey – Meath Archaeological and Historical Society, the IFA and the Meath County Library Service will address the meeting at which a steering committee will be elected to see through the project for the next 2 years. To undertake a survey of this magnitude, the cooperation and support and active engagement of a large number of people across the county will be required
