To Dublin activists I say again, this will be won or lost at the doorstep where undecided voters can be politely convinced. So send your convoys of evangelising No missionaries out into the villages and small towns, near the main roads and along the winding boreens. Suburban city meetings addressed by factional powertrippers aren't where this referendum is at.
Sorry, but what is the 'Campaign Against the Lisbon Treaty'?
I notice that the web address isa for the SWP's voteno.ie website rather than the broad campaign's sayno.ie website. Are the SWP working within the Campaign Against the EU Constitution or have they decided to run with their own factional campaign? I've never heard of the 'Campaign Aganist the Lisbon Treaty' before this although the SWP have been organising what they call VoteNo public meetings and events.
What's going on?
What appears to be going on is that the SWP have sent one or two low or middle level members along to CAEUC while the SWP itself gets on with the business of ignoring CAEUC and organising its own Vote No meetings alongside People Before Profit meetings. SWP members never mention CAEUC and are not directing people towards it. Instead, they are focused on their own Vote No campaign (which isn't openly advertised as SWP) and on the PBPA strategy. Basically they see CAEUC as still-born and are not interested in it, though, for face-saving purposes, two SWPers - Mark Walsh and Sinead Kennedy - are sent along to the meetings.
There's no point in getting annoyed at the SWP about this. All of the left groups are doing the same. There is no real joint action over Lisbon and CAEUC has a list of affiliates who basically just signed up but don't give a fuck.
