On May 17th next, UCC will host a Conference on Combating Child Trafficking for Labour & Sexual Exploitation
Saturday 17th May, Boole 1, University College Cork. Registration 9.30am
Speakers include: Maureen Forrest and Sarbani Das Roy (Hope Foundation Ireland and India), Christine Beddoe (Director- ECPAT UK), Kieran O'Brien (UNICEF Ireland), Mary Nicholson (ISPCC), Nusha Yonkova (Immigrant Council of Ireland), Marion Walsh, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, (Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform), Mary Crilly (Sexual Violence Centre, Cork).
This one day conference will explore the issues of Child Labour and Child trafficking from both an Irish and an international perspective. This conference aims to increase awareness of the issues of Child Labour and Child Trafficking and link issues of global concern to local issues presenting in Ireland. It will highlight the policy and practice responses being implemented in Ireland, the UK and India to combat trafficking in children and protect child victims.
