Journalist honoured for Her work in Mexico.
The 2008 Guillermo Cano award for Journalism is being awarded on May 3rd to Lydia Cacho
from Cancun , In Mexico.
The award Names her as an International Press Freedom Writer and will be awarded by UNESCO.
Lydia has endured defamation, sabotage, car-bomb attack, police harassment and persecution
for writing on corruption and child pornography in official Mexico.

The award will be presented in Mapout, Mozambique in May.

Earlier this year on http://www.indymedia.ie/article/85907 , her name had joined a growing list of
women writers under threat, which included women from Iran, China, Tibet, the Ukraine and
Ethiopia.
