Irish Greens are inviting their Czech counterparts to address their conference. http://www.greenparty.ie/convention
which sounds vaguely ok until you realise that Czech Greens have been cheerleaders for the introduction of US missiles on Czech soil.
Czech Greens have supported the US military plans. Green Party chief Martin Bursik and the independent foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg, who assumed his post with the support of the Greens, have expressed their unconditional support for the US proposals. A motion calling for a referendum on the issue was turned down at a Green party congress in mid-February without even going to a vote.
Although this comes in the same week as we've seen Irish Greens disgracefully line up to join in the swan song of Bertie Ahern, aka one of the most corrupt ministers in Ireland's history.
I do hope that Irish activists give a warm unwelcome to the warmongering Czech Greens and tell the resident Greens that their defence of dodgy bastard ministers will cost them votes.
And for any of those unfortunate enough to be going who can see the contradictions, some Greens across the Irish sea stand side-by-side with you...
