The Union of Secondary Students is holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday March 19th in the Department of Education, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.
The Union of Secondary Students (USS) is the only representative body for second-level student in Ireland both North and South. The Union aims to improve Educational conditions for second level students and to encourage them to use their voice and be heard! All students who want to have a say in their education are invited to attend the Union’s biggest event of the year.
The AGM will take place in the Clock Tower Building, Department of Education, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1; March 19th 2008 from 11am-5pm. An exciting and varied programme has been set for the day, including debates, guest speakers from Teenspace.ie, Ombudman for Children, and Conradh na Gaeilge. Students from all over the country will be present to share and put forward their views- students are welcome to send in their motions or any issues the wish to raise on the day.
Democratic elections will take place in the afternoon whereby students who are interested may run for a position on the USS board (a once in a lifetime experience). Running for a position is a great way to make a difference to Ireland's Education, Health and other polies, as the Government and various other stakeholders consult the Union about issues affecting students.
The USS wants as many students to take part on the day and ask you to encourage your peers to attend. It’s a fantastic experience for all students, particularly those studying CSPE or members of the Student Council/Youth Organisations such as Foróige. Information packs will be sent to all schools about the AGM and the work USS is involved in.
Make sure your voice is heard!
