When: Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 @ 6.30pm
Where: Galway One World Centre, 1st Floor, Bridge Mills, Galway
Starting up our 2008 series of debates, 'The Pros & Cons of Volunteering Overseas' will take a closer look at the impact of volunteers spending time and money to help communities in countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. But what is the long-term effect of these endeavours? How do we view people we go to help and how do they view us? Is volunteering the best way to do good?
Come along to our debate and find out!
For this first debate of 2008 we will have two speakers with great experience regarding international volunteering- Mr Titus Glavee from the Ireland African Internship Programme and Maryanne Wangari-Mullen of the Harambee Charity Shop in Galway which raises funds for the Dochas Nasamu children’s home in Kenya. They will both be speaking from their personal experience with international volunteers.
