Galway One World Centre is delighted to present a public interview with leading Sri Lankan feminist academic and activist Malathi de Alwis.In what promises to be a lively and controversial interview Malathi will be fielding questions from Micheal Mc Caughan author and former Latin american correspondant for the Irish Times.

Since the devastating 2004 Tsunami, Irish NGO’s have been heavily involved in aid and reconstruction projects in Sri Lanka. Many of these NGO’s receive their funding from donations from the Irish public and through the Department of Foregin Affairs Irish Aid section. This interview will provide an opportunity to enquire at first hand into the effectiveness of these projects. Malathi will detail some of the effects from her research and experiences in Sri Lanka.
