The Green Light discusses Transition Towns this week
Tonight on RTE Radio 1 at 8pm on The Green Light, they will be discussing Transition Towns. Kinsale in Co. Cork was one of the first towns to adopt this strategy. The programme airs for 30 mins.
For people knew to this subject, this is probably the ideal starting off point to listen to this and then take it from there. The fact that it is even be aired is significant in itself.
As George Bush said last year in his state of the union address to the USA: "We are addicted to Oil", but it is not just America that is addicted to oil, so is Europe and that includes Ireland too.
The question arises how are our towns and cities going to adopt in the post Peak Oil era which is upon us now. Tonights programme discusses Transition Towns. This is an idea that came about through thinking how we can make the places we live more sustainable and begin the process of Powerdown as promoted by Richard Heinberg and others.
