award winning fiddler comes home to debut new CD

After a sell run at the Edinburgh Fringe, fiddler Aindrias de Staic comes back to Galway to launch his first cd of his music.

August has been a busy month for Irish fiddler Aindrias de Staic. First ,as part of an Irish outfit called The Blackwater Salmon, Aindrias won the Audience and Unique Musical Instrument Awards at the Miedzynarodowy Festiwal gry na Instrumentach Unikatowych in Gdansk, Poland. Then it was helter-skelter to Edinburgh for the Fringe, where his musical one man show — Around the World on 80 Quid was featuring at the Sweet in the city. He arrived there with no publicity budget, no pr guru, no flyers —just his fiddle and Galway charm and talent. And as it happened a great show.
The show enjoyed a 16 night sell out from 10 - 26 august. On the opening night the show was reviewed by 3 Weeks Magazine andreceived a 4 star rating, this elevated the show to a prime time slot and a larger venue in the popular Grassmarket for the rest of the run. More reviews ensued, but ultimately it was word of mouth that really
made the show a best seller. Roger cox, a journalist form the scotsman penned a full page article, with 3 photographs on the young fiddler and his show. Incidentally the feature got Roger a nomination for a journalists award at he festival.  And so, at the largest arts market in the world, the travelling Galway fiddle player, with wit charm and fantastic music has caused a stir and won the sweet award.
At an awards ceremony on Sunday night, August 26th at Edinburgh College of Art, Julian Caddy of Sweet Entertainment presented the Sweet Award to Aindrias. Caddy said " we were surprised and delighted with the success of Aindrias's show and we hope to produce the show with him again In Adelaide and Montreal."

The show is off to melbourne in October where it plays North Melbourne Town hall for 12 nights as part of Melbourne Fringe.
