On April 18th, 2007, the Court of Justice of the
European Communities, on application of the European Commission ordered immediate cessation of
afforestation of the Augustow Primeval Forest.According to the European Commission, the afforestation may threaten
local wildlife habitats and species of plants andanimals.The alternative project of baypass route
proposed by environmetal organisations was rejected by ocal goverment. Regardless social support for' Save
Rospuda Campainge', direct actions that has take place in February 2007, and huge fines for breakig the
National ane EU law, the project hasnt been stoped. On the 1st of August bulldozers will enter a
site of unique wetlants. The enveronmemtal ogranisation once again are ready for direct action.
