Short-list to be announced for Over The Edge New Writer Competition

Over The Edge organisers Susan Millar DuMars and Kevin Higgins will announce a short-list of six for the inaugural Over The Edge New Writer of The Year Competition in Charlie Byrne's Bookshop, Middle Street, Galway on Tuesday, August 7th, 6pm, when the shortlisted writers will read from their entries.

The competition, sponsored by Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, is being judged by Dublin-based poet and fiction writer Alan Jude Moore. The overall winner will be announced at the first Over The Edge: Open Reading after the Summer break in Galway City Library on Thursday, August 30th, 6.30pm.

“The competition has been a huge success. It will definitely now become an annual event.”, Susan Millar DuMars said, “We’ve had well over a hundred entries and the overall quality of the writing has been very impressive.”
