On Wednesday April 25th there will be a protest in support of the Afghan Hunger strikers outside Dail Eireann @ 12.30pm
The hunger strikers are protesting because it has been a year since the cathedral and there has been no progress in any of their cases some have been here for many years and have been turned down by the Minister for Justice Michael Mc Dowell.
The Afghan Hunger strike displayed many problems within our immigration and asylum system and how draconian and inefficient the system is - Asylum seekers live in desperate situations and accommodation is dire, they are denied the right to work and study and forced to live on €19 per week for many years and suffer mental problems. The Afghani's want the right to work, study, a right to a fair hearing and to be treated with dignity.
Residents Against Racism are calling for supporters to come on Wednesday and support the guys they feel isolated and want support this week so please come out and offer solidarity.

Thanks Tony - Adnan is off the hunger strike and doing as well as can be and the lastest developments have been positive and hopefully all will go well
When did Adnan stop his hunger strike Emma? There were no updates from RAR from the 15th day onwards. Was it the 16th day or the 54th day or sometime in between? Why the lack of information?
Adnan came off the hunger strike on the 18th or 19th day I did not look at indymedia and we do not have the time to update everything in RAR the last few weeks have been the most businest in a long time and as I have said before there is so few of us doing the everyday work that we do not have time to look at or update the internet.
