On the first Zimbabwean Independence Day in 1980 the the Union Jack was hauled down, the Zimbabwean flag raised and then Bob Marley and the Wailers played live in the stadium. A true Independence day. Robert Mugabe was then an uncompromising socialist who had led a national liberation struggle. Unfortunately he and ZANU degenerated.
I hope Zimbabwe is returned to democracy and the ideals of those who gave their lives fighting for its independence.
Hardly surprising auld boy, he's the typical tinpotter in the mold of Amin, Chavez, Ceausescu, et al. Hopefully few of the Zim's will die before he winds up like Mussolini hanging upside down in a Harare(Salisbury) Petrol station.
Anyone who could use Cecil Rhodes as their pseudonym can't have much time for democracy. He was a mass-murdering resource thief. Please don't compare Comrade Chavez to some of these people. Viva Chavez!
