what to put in 'Giants Park'

Maze Stadium V's Giants Park (Dargan Landfill)

With the controversial and probably ‘white elephant’ stadium being located at the former Maze prison site, it’s funny that Belfast City Council is wondering what to put on the former landfill at Dargan.

It appears that the developers will make more money at the Maze location rather than the Dargan site which has all of the necessary infrastructure in the immediate vicinity. This includes: rail, roads, ports (water & air). The Dargan site also has the potential to locate athletics, field sports, and motorcycle, motor and water sports.

How about a cable car across the north of the city to Cave Hill, board walk (linking with the cycle lane) to the city centre and a marina? A water sport facility between Belfast and Carrick maybe across to the North Down shore line?

To sum up such a development has the realistic possibility of being a commercial success and a funding stream to the council rather than a burden to the rates payers. The commercial viability of the Maze is dismal and will swallow a fortune of tax payers money for decades to come.

This makes so much sense it's absurd that there hasn't been more word of it. I emailed it as a suggestion the other day and I'd urge others to do so. It's the perfect solution for the Park.
