Get together to take action

An “Action On Suicide” Rally will be held on Wednesday, 28th February 2007 in The Round Room adjacent to the Mansion House, Dublin 2 from 10am to 3pm.

The Rally is being facilitated by The 3Ts (Turn the Tide of Suicide) and will be attended by participants from statutory agencies, voluntary organisations, health professionals, community-based initiatives, individuals personally affected by suicide together with representatives from the media.

Speakers from Console, SpunOut, Let’s Get Together Foundation, Teenline Ireland, SVUH / UCD and 3Ts have already been confirmed. A number of other speakers, including an international expert, will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Mr Geoff Day of the NOSP will make a presentation on the topic of current Government Strategy.

In addition to the formal presentations, there will be a chaired Question & Answer session on the topic of “The Politics of Suicide”. We are issuing an invitation to each of the main political parties to nominate a representative for this particular session which will be held early in the afternoon. It is envisaged that each of the political representatives will be given the opportunity to make a 5 minute presentation on their particular party’s position. At the end of the presentations, there will be an opportunity then for participants to place questions to the panel of political speakers.

As numbers at this event will be severely limited, admission is free but will be by ticket only.
