Green Party leader to address Forum Thursday 1st February 2007

The leader of the Green Party, Trevor Sargent TD, is to address the National Forum On Europe on his party’s vision for the future of Europe next Thursday 1st February 2007. The plenary session will take place in the State Apartments, Dublin Castle at 11.30 a.m.

Following the keynote address, the debate will be opened up to the Forum membership which includes all the political parties and key civil society organisations.

The session will be chaired by the National Forum On Europe chairman, Senator Maurice Hayes. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

The address is one of a series by party leaders to the Forum.

The Forum was established by the government and the political parties in October 2001 as an arena for free debate on the European Union and Ireland’s role in it. In the last five years it has held over seventy plenary meetings, sixty regional meetings and conferences, designed programmes geared to engage women and young people, produced six Reports, publications in plain language and developed an interactive website.
