Highly disputed election moves towards conflict

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, (PRD) the "leftist" opponent of Calderon (PAN) has stated that he will not accept the ruling which was made half an hour ago.

The ruling was conducted by a panel of seven judges (the TRIFE), who only consented to review approximately 13,000 of the 130,000 polling stations returns.

Obrador's supporters have been intensifying a campaign of peacful civil disobedience which has been reacted to with military violence.

Obrador has called on his supporters to create a parallel government which some news media ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14561650/ ) says will lead to violence.

Meanwhile in the USA it was demonstrated that the supposedly secure and updated Diebold voting machines could be completely compromised by two untrained people with US$12 of tools and 5 minutes of spare time.

Diebold had already come under major criticism from activists who believe that the 2000 election was stolen from Al Gore (as detailed by Greg Palast in The Best Democracy Money Can Buy)
