Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2006
Letterkenny, County Donegal - 25 to 27 August 2006

"The 2006 All-Ireland Fleadh will be held in Letterkenny , County Donegal - This is the second year running for the town to host the All Ireland Fleadh. The last All Ireland to be held in Ulster prior to 2005 was also in Donegal, in Buncrana in 1979.
With a tradition that includes Johnny Doherty, Tommy Peoples and the world renowned Altan, Donegal has a reputation for producing musicians, particularly fiddle players, who rank among the greats.
The Fleadh is now an 8 day event, incorporating the Scoil Éigse (the Comhaltas Summer school) running for the full week before the event and the Seachtain na hÉigse 2006 with 2 or 3 events and concerts every night of the Fleadh week . This coupled with Donegal's reputation for beautiful scenery and great hospitality, will ensure that the 2006 Fleadh is one not to be missed. More information can be found at the official Fleadh website.
Donegal's strong links with Scotland and the North of England have raised expectations that the numbers attending from "across the water" will be greater then ever and the Organising Committee are aiming for over 250,000 visitors and 11,000 musicians.
The national finals for the annual Irish language conversation competition, in which all counties participate, was also held at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann."
