Galway Sinn Féin call on the government to actively condemn Israeli actions in Lebanon and Palestine

Galway Sinn Féin have called on the Dublin Government to actively condemn the Israeli governments military actions in Lebanon and the Occupied Territories.

Orlaith O’ Neill of Galway Sinn Féin said

“Indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas by the Israeli military has resulted in the deaths of 300 men, women and children. This number will undoubtedly increase as the bombing continues

“There will be a demonstration in Galway this Saturday to show opposition to the Israeli attacks on the peoples of Lebanon and Palestine and to call on the government to do everything in their power to bring about a cessation of Israeli hostilities. It is not enough to state that the Israeli violence is merely “disproportionate”. We call on the government to call in the Israeli ambassador, to use the state’s influence as a UN Security Council member and within the EU to sanction Israel and to condemn in the strongest possible way, the massacre of innocent people.

“The rally will take place at 2pm on Saturday the 22nd at Church Lane/Shop Street.

“It is essential for Irish people to show their solidarity with other oppressed nations and to finally use our unique position in the global community to lead the way in holding bully nations accountable for their actions.”
