Starting point is outside the Ulster Hospital/ Torbank special school Upper Newtownards Road Dundonald at 12.45 Thursday the 6th of July. The rally will then proceed to the SEELB HQ Grahamsbridge Road Dundonald. Education workers, parents, Community Groups, Trade Unions, Students, Everyone welcome. Bring banners and Placards.
Education Unions have called this demonstration/Rally to coincide with the next SEELB meeting. At this meeting the Board will attempt to vote through a devastating package of cuts. The Unions have already scored significant successes in forcing the board to retreat from making some cuts, and delaying the implimentation of others. However the board is still intent in forcing through a package of Draconian cuts. At stake is the education of the children, the futures of schools, local libraries, the jobs and terms and conditions of hundreds of education workers. These cuts must be stopped now, and the board mustn't be allowed to do the Governments "Dirty work" for them. We must stand up and demand that Education is funded as per the needs of the children. NOT to balance Browne's budget.
