Build up to 6th July continues
Parents, pupils and trade union members held a protest outside Lisnasharragh High School on 26 June. The protest was called to highlight the proposed closure of the school.
Lisnasharragh HS, in East Belfast, is a one of the schools earmarked for closure by the cash strapped South Eastern Board. The Board is responsible for the organisation of education in the Co Down area and has been involved in a series of vicious cuts in services. Proposed cuts include, school closures, redundancies and special needs provision.
The protest at Lisnasharragh is the latest in a series which have been building towards a decisive meeting of the South Eastern Education Board on 6th July. A draconian package of cuts will be proposed at that meeting and the trade unions have organised a demonstration and protest in response.
Please send messages of support to the education workers and parents who are fighting the cuts.

At the same time as we are told there is no extra money for the vial services that we have a right to. This "morally Bankrupt" Government announces a commitment to spend Billions on their next generation of WMD's.
