Dublin Labour MEP Proinsias De Rossa is to host a public conference on 'Extraordinary Rendition, the CIA and the Law' this coming Thursday.

Dublin Labour MEP Proinsias De Rossa is to host a public conference on 'Extraordinary Rendition, the CIA and the Law' this coming Thursday.

Speakers will include: Michael D. Higgins TD, Labour Party spokesperson on Foreign Affairs; Fiona Crowley, Amnesty International; Michael Farrell, Irish Human Rights Commission; and Conor Power, Human Rights lawyer.

The aim of the conference is to identify gaps in Irish, EC and international law that the issue has highlighted, and to identify possible solutions.

The conference is being timed to coincide with the publication of the report of the European Parliament's Extraordinary Rendition Committee of Inquiry, of which Proinsias De Rossa is a member.

All are welcome and there is no charge. Registration is from 8.30am.
