Counterpunch: Ronan Sheehan

Counterpunch Apr 10 2006 carries _An open letter to the Primate of all Ireland on the Memorial to the China War at St. Patrick's Cathedral_ in which Ronan Sheehan of the Irish Writers Co-Op meditates on the bloody involvement of the Royal Irish Regiment in the Opium Wars in China.

Sheehan notes the presence of the standards of this regiment in St. Patrick's cathedral while conducting a Chinese visitor on a tour. The suggestion is that this monument to imperial slaughter be surrendered to the people of Dublin.
