Show contained interview update on today's law lords ruling that use of section 44 of terrorism act during protests is not a violation of the right to peaceful protest, but that it should not be used when police didn't believe the target was likely to be a terrorist... (Interview with Alex Gask from Liberty and next legal steps)
Piece on the new uk Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill.. which would allow the government to introduce, amend, or replace any legislation it likes, on the say so of a single government minister. Things like creating new offences punishable by up to 2yrs imprisonment, abolising local government, introducing house arrest, and giving the police greater powers of arrest and interrogation. It could also be used to set up new courts, and in effect re-write the rules on immigration, nationality, divorce, inheritance and the appointment of judges – all without any parliamentary scrutiny...
Interview with Joe Zacune from War on Want on the Church of England's ethical committee advice today for the church to not sell their shares in Caterpillar.

Wouln't it be a coup to get DN! or FSRN on Radio One long wave.
Since Gilligan domestic BBC has been practicing self-censorship.
It would be a great service for the 60million of us over here (I'm in England) to ALL have a chance to know what "they" are not telling us. And your great big hulking old transmitter at Clarkestown is the answer.
Can RTE cope with making a serious blow for free speech?
There are an awful lot of longwave boxes in the UK. Everybody has at least one for the cricket. Most car radios have longwave for BBC Radio 4, our FM network is next to useless.
RTE Radio One's overnight sustaining service is (are?) repeats of the previous days shows, so there's time available.

DN! is free to new stations for the first year.

The potential audience [assume brace position] is well over 60,000,000, if most of them weren't asleep. But they don't all sleep all of every night.
BBC World Service (Europe stream) is the adjacent channel on 198khz overnight. Daytime it's BBC Radio Four which I'd guess you're familiar with.
R4 weekly reach in the UK (2005) 9.5 million.
