Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8This shite is a perfect example of why the loony left will never be taken seriously. But my favourite bit is the comment "indeed one of the main reasons why the bin tax campaign failed,". This in the same week that the Anti Bin Tax Campaign threw the Dublin City Council campaign against non payment into chaos by winning another circuit court case. The campaign has been going on FIVE YEARS and still have the upper hand in the battle against the double tax. Ah still, I suppose that it doesn't count because it's not permanent revolution!!!! (as preached by teachers!!!).
"till have the upper hand in the battle against the double tax"
Are you serious?
Payment in the city and DLR has gone up significantly anf the campaigns in South Dublin and fingal are defeated.
The campaign might be getting more support because of the 'i told you so' factor and peoples anger but the campaign will not defeat the tax unless there is a significant politicla shift, lets be honest.
To Mr. anti bin tax?
Success of the anti bin tax campaign for slow learners:
Campaign still going five years on
25,000 people in the city haven't paid a penny
NOT including those who paid as little as €10
(this could almost be called a mass campaign!!!!!!)
No attempt to implement non collection since the campaign stopped the last attempt nearly TWO years ago
2 successful circuit court cases against the Council meaning they either have to refund people over 12 million euro or pay costs in each individual case. Even their legal department have admitted this.
The Council haven't a clue what to do next
This issue still angers people in working class areas, you must be pissed off you gave up on the issue before the people did!!!
This pamphlet denounces the RESPECT Project in England as a "dead end".
Try telling that to the US Senate Warmongers, who were roasted by the RESPECT MP George Galloway at the recent US Senate hearing.
For a full report see the link below on the website of the Fourth International's "International Viewpoint"
http://www.internationalviewpoint.org/print_article.php3?id_article=786
See also the lively discussion thread about Galloway's speech elsewhere on the Indymedia.ie site.
The sectarian denouncers of RESPECT - "Socialist Democracy" are not unique occupiers of that space - would be well advised to show a little modesty.
Does SD seriously think this major propaganda victory against the USA war could have happened without Galloway's sensational election victory? Didn't that victory occur, at least partly, because of the active role played by far left organisations (including Fourth International Supporters organised around the newspaper Socialist Resistance) in building the RESPECT Coalition? And, in general, isn't that a good thing?
Isn't it great to see old comrades falling out online. Are you all still in the same International?
I'm very confused about the USFI in this country. Social Democracy are not really very present in many of the struggle in Ireland. I accept that as a small group they cannot be involved in everything. But I never really see them as a force or intervening in a campaign as the USFI/Socialist Democacy. I came across one or two of their members in the CARR last year, but they never talked of socialism or the working class. What's the score?
John will be aware that there has been a debate on Respect in the FI. In fact I believe he posted a link to that debate a while back without venturing an opinion of his own. Can I take it that John is now supporting the British against the French?
the same Andy Johnson that was a member of the Irish Workers Group in the early 80's in Galway?
It certainly reads like the type of stuff he used to write.
