"created by four spanish kids who describe themselves as good hackers"
OSSIM is an anacronym for Open Source Security Information Management.
It is an open source internet security code developed by a spanish group of IT security professionals with economic assistance from the Spanish government (Aznar and Zapatero regimes) the French Republic and a bunch of Germans a bunch of Americans and is now being used in computers all over the world.
For those of you whose IT security needs mean you can't afford to use either Microsoft or Panda solutions OSSIM could be just for you.
its version 0.9.8rc1 is online now so this means-
* Internationalization. they're working on the translations and at least English, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and Italian should make it into 0.9.8
* New interface. The whole interface has been revamped and they would like to hear feedback on it.
* New plugins.
* PDF reports reworked.
* Tighter hids integration.
* 3D Alarm visualization using scanmap3d (still experimental).
* As always... plenty of bug-fixes.
Enjoy ;-)
If you want to help out in the "internalisation" of the OSSIM project you can help, really you can really.
