Excerpt from 1.5 hour interview
An excerpt of an Amy Goodman interview with Noam Chomsky was carried on the Tue Oct. 19th. 2004 edition of DemocracyNOW! In it Chomsky comments on the furore over his endorsement of the VoteToStopBush petition.
He expresses his surprise and says that it's exactly the same position that he took in 2000: namely that elections are a distraction from real politics focussing as they do on the personality of leaders instead of issues. He also mentions the militarisation of space as one of the substantive differences between potential Kerry and Bush administrations and points out the "ratchet effect" of allowing the gains made by popular movements over the past few years to be eroded by the slightly-worse Bush administration.
