McDonald's profits slump in face of junk food battle

category international | miscellaneous | other press author Tuesday September 28, 2004 18:05author by Slarti

"Fast food giant McDonald's profits have plunged in Britain to the worst level since they launched 30 years ago, as it continues to battle the war on junk food.

The burger chain's pre-tax profits tumbled by nearly three-quarters in the UK last year, falling to £23.6m from £83.8m."

So it seems that all that work people put in exposing the environmental effects of MacDonalds and the way they treat their staff was unnecessary. I think we mostly assumed that people knew that fried food made you fat but it seems not. Now that someone's pointed that out it seems to be having an effect. if only we'd thought of that

In the USA Mc Donalds under pressure from "supersizeme" the movie, (at link) have withdrawn their super size portions.
