Ballymun Against the War Activist Meeting
Axis Centre (cafe area)
Wednesday 30 July 7.30pm

Dear Friends,

As you are no doubt aware, the lies about Bush and Balir's war on Iraq
are
daily beoming more and more exposed. The brutal occupation is facing
increasing resistance and the US/UK troops are replying with more
brutality.
And very many people are now extremely angry at the US and Britain and
Ahern
and the Irish government's complicity in this murderous war for oil and
power.

The 150,000 people who protested in Ireland have not gone away, and wth
the
truthof the bloody occupation daily becoming more apparent, many of
these
can be mobilised again to renew the anti-war and anti occupation
movement.

In the light of this and some planned upcoming events it would seem a
goood
idea for activists in Ballymun Agains the War to get together and get
organising.

On September 27 there will be a major international day of protests
against
the Occupations of Iraq and to demand Justice for Palestinians.

Last weekend the Irish Anti War Movement brought together more than
thirty
activists from groups round the country to plan future national
initiatives.
The Major event planed is for a big march in Dublin to co-incide with
the
international day of protests on September 27th. Some weeks following
that a
protest is palnned for Shannon Airport.

It was suggested that local groups that have become dormant are
reactivated.
It was also suggestd that Iraqi and Palestinian speakers are available
fr
local public meetings in late August/early Sept to help build for the
these
events.

If we want to have an input into building the 27th Sept National
Protest and
want to decide whether to organise a local public meeting as above we
need
to get together and set the wheels in motion.

We will meet up in the cafe section of the Axis Centre on Wednesday 30
July
at 7.30pm.

Hope you can get there.

The problem is that the people on F15 HAVE gone away. They didnt do anything all summer. They didnt keep up the anti war fight.

And local groups have become dormant. After this march, they will again. You might get another big one in six months time... but the IAWM killed it with their inaction and refusal to back direct action.

Don't blame the anti war movement for that. There were other groups who made a point of organising direct action and the multitude didn't show any great desire to participate. Good that something is being organised that might attract non-activists I say. THAT is the future of the movement for my money.
