Public Talk on Mon Dec 11th - Luas Cross City and Cycling

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Sunday December 10, 2017 22:24author by dcc - Dublin Cycling Campaign Report this post to the editors

The Luas Cross City is a boon for Dublin city but what does it mean for people who cycle along or across this route? Cycling and on-street tram tracks is a safety issue all over the world. In general cyclists learn fast, and realise that they must take greater care around the tracks, and ideally cross them at a large angle, while at the same time be aware of other surrounding traffic.

When & Where:
Monday, December 11, 2017
8pm, Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2

Dublin Cycling Campaign have received numerous stories and reports of cycling incidents over the past months, some of them quite serious. We have asked for a speaker from the responsible agency Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), but they seem unwilling to appear. So our December public meeting will discuss the impact for cyclists and whether changes are needed to make the route safer for cyclists. Campaign activists will explain the planning process and input from campaigners over the years, and the need to safeguard the role of cycling in the City, and show some of the incidents that have happened even before the new LUAS system becomes fully active.

If you are a city centre cyclist?, if you care about public spaces and public planning?, if you want to cycle safely throughout the City?, come along to our meeting on Monday night 11th December at the Central Hotel, 8pm……Find out more and make your own input! Be part of the change!

Public talk. All welcome.

Monthly Meeting
