The next Irish Red Cross IHL roundtable discussion will take place Wednesday 20 June upstairs in McGrattans Bar, Fitzwilliam Lane, Dublin 2, 6pm – 7.30pm. The format for these round-table discussions is informal and the Chatham House rule will apply. The discussion will be facilitated by Simon O’Connor.

Simon is currently the legal adviser in international law issues for the Norwegian Red Cross and during 2011 was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Ethics Law and Armed Conflict at the University of Oxford, where he remains a Research Associate. His most recent publication is “Why a child is not a soldier”, was an invited contribution to an essay collection in honour of Navi Pillay. Simon will present the topic ‘Children in War – what does and should IHL have to say?’ before we open the discussion to the floor.
