This is a Facebook led initiative to show Irish support for Argentina over it's ongoing sovereignty dispute over the Malvinas/Falklands islands.
Monday, the 2nd April is the 30th anniversary of when the war between Argentina and the UK began.
See FB link below for more details.
This 2nd of April will be the 30th anniversary of when the Malvinas War started in 1982 after Argentina re-took the Islands off their coast which they have always claimed belongs to them but had been under British control and known under the colonial name of the Falkland Islands.
Instead of trying to resolve this dispute through diplomatic channels, Britain amassed the biggest naval fleet seen since WW2 and set off sailing 8,000 miles away to engage in a bloody war to re-invade the disputed Islands in the name of the British empire.
If you call yourself an Irish republican, nationalist, socialist, communist, trade unionist or is simply someone who is against injustice, then can I please ask you to give 2 hours of your time to attend this important protest against imperialism?
Bring Argentine & Irish flags, or your national flag if you are from outside Ireland. Feel free to bring your own placards & banners too.
Go raibh maith agaibh/Muchas gracias!
